I love the measured way you share these personal stories. I just finished reading Anne Applebaum's book about the Holodomor and it was chilling. I loaded up on books after reading Michael Malice's The White Pill. I spent a fortune on World of Books and now have a shelf full of history books. What you said was so powerful: there is no greater good. Beautifully put.
From 'My grandmother was born in a Gulag' to 'How do you come up with a moral code?' in three and half minutes! The former should perhaps inform the latter. It is no coincidence, I think, that eight of the Ten Commandments instruct us on what we should not do.
