My former colleagues at the BBC Audience Services inform me that you continue to divide opinion.
You had number of complaints, ranging from "far right extremist" to "Putin asset".
On the plus side you got quite a few appreciations ranging from "Unusual to have an immigrant who speaks perfect English, loves British values and talks common sense", to the very optimistic "that man should be Prime Minister".
It is a bit farseical at this moment, to see them being so plainly obtuse… the end is so near you can see the hole, but they refuse to acknowledge it even exists.
Every time I listen to you I am so excited to hear someone so well informed and so articulate that it makes me shudder to remember that here in the States we have no one, either from the left or the right, that ca articulate ideas and positions so well. Wher are the snows of the past to paraphrase a great French poet of ages of ago?
Great stuff. Fascinates me that someone who started out as a comedian is so much more articulate and clear about the issues and what's at stake than professional politicians whose job is to understand these things. The mediocrity and uselessness of the political class is starting to feel like an emergency. Wasn't always the case; all parties had people of high intellect back in the day.
Konstantin, have you ever asked someeone who berated you on calling Rishi Sunak a British Hindu and not English, "Why is it better to call Rishi English then a British Hindu? Why is it shameful to call someone of Hindu ethnic origins a Hindu? What makes being called English so great?"? So, we can see how they explain this one without sounding like a total racist.
When I hear someone say you can call Rushi a British Hindu, I hear them really saying in their minds. "Oh, because English is the superior race, it is the most charitable, kindest, and most inclusive act an Englishman can do by calling a brown and black person English. They can't help being an inferior race. No need to thank me is it's the least I can do to help inferior beings feel better about themselves." It is patronising and demeaning. The more you try not to be racist, the more racist you become.
There is no one I disagree more with whom I like to watch and listen to more. Such worthy opponents should make my side better. Alas, they just make us angrier (if that‘s at all possible).
Before 2016 I used to look forward to David Aaronovitch’s column in the Times, he had a weariness regarding left wing politics which reflected my own evolving political evolution. All that changed in 2016 after the Brexit referendum and he basically lost the plot and he became a bitter, miserable old sod.
Quite often on X he has a dig at KK, in this thread about KKs “controversial” appearance on BBCQT he even labels him a “weasel”. That said, isn't it awful nice of David not to wish to have KK “barred” for having opinions?
Maybe @triggerpod should invite him on for a good old back and forth.
