Burnham isn't popular because he's hoodwinked the public. He's popular because he is giving the people what they want. It's just a pity it will end in disaster.
Well said, as Thomas Sowell said "you can ignore reality, but you cannot ignore the consequences of reality"
Sadly the only way out is for everyone to see how shit it can get.
Trouble is it wont be poor natives helping each other in times of need, it will be lawless young men from foreign countries going on robbing sprees unchecked.
We are importing the third world, just look at their countries to see the level the uk will be dragged down to.
I have arrived at the same conclusions! Most of my social aquaintances are blissfully unaware of where we are economically... things have to run their course. It's painful to watch the cultural and financial fall out, it's like living in a slow motion car crash!
Absolutely great commentary, backed up by facts rather than (like some commentators) by, say, sarcasm or conspiracy theories or ideology. The trouble is, so many people seem to be ready to want the wool pulled over their eyes, and to believe strange things about somebody they vaguely, or thoroughly irrationally and excessively, oppose - whether that is Burnham, or Badenoch, or Farage, for example. I think you're right by ending with the words "will end in disaster". (I think the comment from Hilary Jenkins is right - it's like living in a slow motion car crash.)
Sadly, many Americans want to follow the UK and Western Europe down the big government rabbit hole, which will only yield the same results and destroy the opportunity and potential of the US, and its ability to counter authoritarian regimes that no doubt are gleeful about it all. It is no understatement to say that freedom and prosperity are at stake now and even more for future generations. Would British and Western Europeans say that they are really better off than their parents and grandparents’ generations or that their countries offer more opportunity and are more prosperous than they were 30 or 40 years ago?
